I am about to start my new project: Project CarPC. What this involves is installing an in-dash 7in' screen with a cd/dvd-rom drive and have that interface with a PC through the dash of my car.

Since my car has a double-din setup, it fits a 7in' screen wonderfully. All I really need to do is create a custom mold for the dash of my car so just in case I would like to sell the car in the far future, I can put all the OEM parts back inside of the car and have it look like it just came from the factory.

I just bought a book which specializes in the whole setup process from distributing power from the car battery to the power supply of the pc, to routing sound from the factory amplifier to the PC's audio connector.

This whole setup process is going to take months, so hopefully I can have this project finished by september. I have the PC already, so all I need really is the custom in-dash mold, 7in' screen, a startup/shutdown controller for the power supply, and some cables to route various accessories like a usb hub, volume control, fm radio, gps reciever, notebook cd/dvd-rom extender, vga extension cable.

I've been reading lately on a great site www.mp3car.com which has lots of information regarding in-car setups. So I will be spending lots of time there as well as creating a little scrap book which outlines the whole setup process. Here are some pictures of what it will look like:
